Frequently Asked Questions About Our Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy Practice

How does online therapy work?

Our online therapy, or teletherapy, sessions allow you to connect with our licensed therapists from anywhere with an internet connection. We use a secure, easy-to-use video platform that makes attending your appointments simple and convenient. This approach eliminates the need for travel, fits seamlessly into your busy schedule, and allows us to provide expert care to families throughout North Dakota, no matter where you live.

What ages do you work with?

We provide services for patients of all ages, from infants to adults. Our "MyoMunchkins" program is designed for babies and toddlers from birth to three years old, addressing early feeding and oral function. For school-aged children, teens, and adults, we offer tailored therapy for a wide range of speech, feeding, airway, and orofacial myofunctional disorders.

What kinds of conditions do you treat?

Our team is experienced in treating a variety of conditions. These include speech sound disorders, picky eating and feeding challenges, tongue thrust, and improper swallowing patterns. We also specialize in issues related to airway health, such as mouth breathing, snoring, and sleep apnea, as well as TMJ pain and disorders caused by improper oral habits.

How do I know if I or my child needs orofacial myofunctional therapy?

Common signs that suggest a need for orofacial myofunctional therapy include persistent mouth breathing, difficulty chewing or swallowing, a lisp or other speech errors, snoring, or crowded teeth. If you notice your child has a tongue thrust (where the tongue pushes against the teeth when swallowing or speaking) or if you experience jaw pain, headaches, or poor sleep, an evaluation with one of our therapists can help determine if orofacial myofunctional therapy is the right solution.

Do you accept insurance?

Marvel Myo & Speech is in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield and Medicare, and we are continually working to expand our partnerships. For patients with other insurance providers, we are considered an out-of-network provider. We are happy to provide you with the necessary documentation (a "superbill") to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement for our services. We recommend contacting your insurance provider to understand your out-of-network benefits for speech therapy.
